Abstract

To respond to the problem of childhood illiteracy, during the last decade World Vision has implemented the Unlock Literacy (UL) project, which complements and supports the efforts of the Ministries of Education of the countries where it is implemented, to improve the learning processes in reading and writing of all children, including the most vulnerable. UL goes beyond the classroom and school to also strengthen children's literacy skills at home, as well as in other community settings where reading camps represent one of its most commendable efforts, increasing children's access to printed materials and educational stimulation sessions.
