Item Teacher mentorship and support in Kenya : a desktop review(2023-08-13) Echaune, Manasi ; Maiyo, JuliusTeacher mentorship and support programmes enable teachers to engage in ongoing professional learning and develop required competencies. This exploratory study was designed to provide baseline information on existing teacher mentorship and support programmes in Kenya. The study sought to provide background information towards the implementation of participatory action research on the strengthening in-service teacher training (SITT) project funded by the International Development and Research Centre (IDRC). The study adopted an integrative and holistic approach that involved a review of government policy documents, circulars and reports, articles published in refereed journals and grey material to enable map existing teacher mentorship and support programmes in Kenya. The study sought to; describe the theoretical background of teacher mentorship and to document existing in-service teacher mentorship and support programmes in Kenya. Various in-service teacher mentorship and support programmes exist in Kenya. However, the majority of the programmes were funded and implemented by non-governmental organisations. The existing mentorship programmes were uncoordinated and lacked a follow-up mechanism, thus making them less effective.Item Integrating "school in-service teacher mentorship and support" project principles into national curriculum(2023-12) Fulgence, Katherine ; Maiyo, Julius; Muleya, Gistered; Chipa, NicolataItem Strengthening uptake of learning assessments in Kenya : a policy brief(2023-09) Owino, Samuel Otieno ; Mwanje, ShaylorItem Scaling education innovations : the case of school-based in-service teacher training model(2023-12) Fulgence, KatherineItem Scaling strategy for innovations aimed at data-driven school improvement(2023) Muzaffar, Irfan; Ansari, AmnaItem Caregiver Child to Child Guide(2023-08) Ejuu, GodfreyThis guide has been developed to assist caregivers in their role of supporting Young Facilitators (YFs) who will be using the Child to Child activity pack to design activities and games for young learners. P.; Winjikul, Ekbordin; Tchounwou, Paul B.This research aimed to assess the perceptions of air quality and health symptoms caused by low urban air quality among vulnerable socio-economic groups in the world of work in Bangkok, Thailand through a questionnaire survey of 400 workers of both formal and informal sectors in the five districts with different socio-economic characteristics and levels of air pollution. The findings showed symmetry between air quality-monitoring data and health symptoms of different socio-economic groups but asymmetry between air quality-monitoring data and people’s perceptions of air quality in their areas. It also showed inequalities of low air quality-related health impacts on socio-economic groups in the world of work. People working near the streets, highways, and industrial zones tended to have more health symptoms related to low air quality, and informal sector workers faced more health risks than formal sector workers. The study appeals for effective air pollution communication to enhance the public and informal sector worker population’s literacy of air pollution, the sources of air pollution and its critical health impacts, and the available and sufficient primary care organizations and community health care centers to address work-related health needs to reach the informal sector worker population.Item SEI Asia podcast : intersectionality and air pollution in the world of work(Stockholm Environment Institute, 2022-10-26) Han, Jenny Yi-Chen; Thossaphonpaisan, KadesireeWe talk with Thanh Vu from Hanoi’s Institute of Human Studies to explore how different worker groups are disproportionately exposed to and impacted by air pollution, especially among informal workers in Vietnam.Item SEI Asia’s online modules explore air pollution and the world of work(Stockholm Environment Institute, 2023-01-13) Thossaphonpaisan, KadesireeSEI Asia’s new online learning modules on “air pollution and the world of work” help advance our understanding of the effects of air pollution and enable researchers, policymakers and practitioners to address these through an intersectional and inclusive approach.Item Exposure to barbeque smoke in Vientiane Lao PDR : gendered disparities and unequal exposures for grillers(Stockholm Environment Institute, 2023-01-10) Sychareun, Vanphanom; Vongxay, Viengnakhone; Thongmixay, Souksamone; Durham, JoThis policy brief summarizes key issues related to unequal exposures to air pollution among grill workers in Vientiane, the capital of Lao PDR.Item Air pollution in Bangkok : addressing unequal exposure and enhancing public understanding of the risks(Stockholm Environment Institute, 2023-03-7) Nguyen, Thi Phuoc Lai; Winjikul, Ekbordin; Virdis, Salvatore G.P.This brief reports the findings of a study that examined the relationship between air-pollution exposure, socio-economic status, and working and living conditions in Bangkok.
