Item Ecuaciones de cierre y propiedades de modelos macroeconométricos(CIEPLAN, Santiago, CL, 1988) Corporación de Investigaciones Económicas para Latinoamérica; Vial, J.Item Améliorer la santé des mères et des enfants en Afrique de l'Ouest par l'utilisation de l'évidence dans la prise de décisions(2014-10-20) Organisation Ouest Africaine de la Santé (OOAS)Item Research for the developing world : public funding from Australia, Canada, and the UK(2015) Currie-Alder, BruceThis thesis/book explores the funding of public research through country studies of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. The reimagining of international development, the decline of foreign aid, and rise of research governance abroad require funders to renegotiate their role and function in an evolving landscape. Whereas funders used to encourage “small is beautiful” with local experiments in development, today the emphasis is on “getting to scale” delivering innovation through self-financing models. Looking forward, research for the developing world is fading as part of development assistance, yet rising as collaboration on common global challenges.Item Maasai livelihood and household sources of revenue report(2015-09) Tiampati, Michael; Macharia, JacquelineUnderstanding the complex relationships and causes of threats to sources of income and livelihoods and the prevailing poverty among the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania is a necessary first step toward informed and effective policymaking and interventions as well as community food security and poverty reduction initiatives. This overview paper provides a glimpse of the interplay between policy and legal regimes and the challenges that this community has to grapple with in seeking incomes and livelihoods from household to community levels. It has four general objectives: (1) to generate a report of key cases; (2) to highlight data bases including information on key respondents; (3) generate context dependent indicator variables; and (4) to propose variables common to Kenya and Tanzania that can be used for comparative purposes.Item Inclusion des femmes dans la création d'entreprises agroalimentaries gérées par des jeunes(2017-08-30) Nguru, Karen M.; Asena, Salome E.; Sikalieh, Damary; Muriithi, Jane; Khamati, PhilipItem Méta-synthèse sur le genre, le handicap et la santé reproductive en Afrique subsaharienne(Cairn.info, 2017-11-08) Mac-Seing, Muriel; Zarowsky, ChristinaItem Monitoring and case observations in gender based violence court(2018-02-02) DastakThis report sets out to monitor the protocols established for the GBV Court in Lahore via a series of court observations and study of selected judgements. The aim of this exercise was to not only monitor and assess the implementation of the specialized protocols designed for the functioning of the Court but to also evaluate the performance of the Court and propose recommendations for its improved operations. Dastak monitored proceedings in the GBV Court to mark trends in the application of the human rights-based approach and gender sensitivity in the prosecution of GBV cases. This monitoring also included eliciting feedback from judges, prosecutors and other relevant actors present within the Court. Judicial decisions of the GBV court were also collected for an evidence-based study of trends such as rate of convictions and acquittal and the time taken to decide a case etc. These observations and monitoring will be used for advocacy on legislative and/or procedural reform.Item Building partnerships for scaling access to justice for survivors of sexual violence in Pakistan(2018-04-29) Fawad, Mahnoor; Jilani, Hina; Shaikh, Saba Naveed; Dastak Charitable Trust (DCT)Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a prevalent issue faced by vulnerable segments of the population and disproportionately impacts women in Pakistan. While legislative and policy reforms have been endorsed at the state level to protect women their activation and implementation remains in a limbo. Focus on legislation and policy reform remains greater than enforcement of such laws and the establishment of protection mechanisms contained within. This and other factors including lack of resources, lack of awareness and inter-departmental coordination and under trained staff directly contribute to the weak response and underreporting of GBV. Having a strong understanding of the key challenges and hurdles in survivors’ access to justice and protection through Dastak’s extensive work in the field, this project was designed to focus on promoting the activation and/or usage of existing services within the Punjab Women Protection System (PWPS), increase interplay between Dastak’s work and state mechanisms, develop tools that to aid responders in the field to use WPS more effectively and improve the quality of response given to survivors of GBV.Item Report of the LVIF gender working group on livestock vaccine value chain(2018-08-01) Bukachi, SalomePrevious livestock vaccine projects have largely focused on the technical aspects of vaccine development, distribution, and adoption rather than on gender issues. Gender has only been studied in a marginal fashion, for example, what are women’s perceptions or their adoption rates for the new vaccines. LVIF is now seeking to have gender as an entry point and to generate new evidence on how women can be empowered to participate and benefit from the livestock vaccine value chain in targeted countries.Item Promoting respectful maternity care in rural Tanzania : nurses’ experiences of the “Health Workers for Change” program(BMC, 2018-08-22) Webber, Gail; Chirangi, Bwire; Magatti, NyamusiThis pilot study trained reproductive health care nurses to be more sensitive to women’s needs based on the “Health Workers for Change” curriculum. Health care provider attitudes are a key issue to address in order to improve access to care. In consultations, women described health care providers using “bad language,” while male partners sometimes resorted to offering bribes to ensure better care for their partners. Health care providers participating in the workshops had several suggestions for improving women’s experiences. They emphasized continuation of health education, the importance of family planning, and safe deliveries as key to improving maternal care.Item Climate change adaptation : addressing sea level rise through integrated coastal zone management - Semarang and Demak as case study(2018-12-12) Nurhidayah, LaelyIndonesia as an archipelagic state is extremely vulnerable to sea level rise (SLR) threat. SLR presents significant risks to coastal settlements, infrastructure, cultural resources, and sensitive species habitats. The presentation provides an overview (along with images) of land subsidence and sea level rise in two areas of Indonesia. Existing gaps in environmental legislation would require the attention of multi-level layers of government as well as proper coordination. Social justice aspects of legislation have been neglected.Item Le volet qualitatif de l’Indice d'autonomisation des femmes dans l'élevage (WELI)(2019) Galiè, Alessandra; International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Item Qualitative component of the Women’s Empowerment in Livestock Index (WELI)(2019) Galiè, Alessandra; International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Item Mapping the livestock vaccine value chains through a gender and intersectionality lens : a tool for understanding and analysis(2019) University of FloridaUnderstanding how the livestock vaccine value chains work is key to improve vaccine delivery when it is needed. It is also critically important to analyze how gender intersects with other social markers (e.g., age, caste, ethnicity, livelihood) at each node of the value chain to better understand what barriers affect women's participation. This document showcases four livestock vaccine value chains in Nepal, Senegal and Uganda that were mapped in 2019. We encourage the use of the mapping approach with a Gendered lntersectional Transformative Approach (GITA) and these icons to analyze the vaccine value chains in other contexts.Item Trayectorias de cambio : la gestión del conocimiento para el aprendizaje y el cambio en la práctica(Ediciones Abya-Yala, 2019-02) Santandreu, Alain; Betancourt, Óscar F.; Betancourt C., Andrés; Ediciones Abya-YalaItem 2018 INGSA research associate grant summary : full report(2019-02-16) International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA); Mills, Grant; Cowen, LaraThe International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA) provides a forum for policy makers, practitioners, national academies, and academics to share experience, build capacity and develop theoretical and practical approaches to the use of scientific evidence in informing policy at all levels of government. The report provides a summary of awards and activities related to the inaugural round of INGSA research grants in 2018. Grants were provided to scientists and researchers for supporting projects in their region on the thematic priority of: The role of Science Advice in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Item Primates create seedling growth hotspots through pattern of dung deposition(John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 2019-02-25) Kalbitzer, Urs; McInnis, Victoria; Chapman, Colin A.Primates may play important roles in accelerating ecosystem nutrient cycling, seed dispersal and herbivory. They comprise a large part of the biomass of forest communities and tend to have clumped patterns of defecations at favored food trees or sleeping sites. The paper reports on a controlled growth experiment to quantify the effect of primate dung on the growth of both light-demanding and shade tolerant seedlings in Kibale National Park (Uganda). Analysis reveals that light-demanding species were affected by the natural dung treatment and plants with small initial size had accelerated growth. There was no effect on (the often slower) plant growth for shade tolerant plants over the year long study.Item Annex 1 : Progress towards program indicators(2019-08) Consorcio de Investigacion Economica y SocialThis form is meant to be filled out by grantees each time a technical report is submitted to the project. This annex questionnaire was created to monitor the immediate and intermediate outcomes of research projects funded by the Employment and Growth program, part of the wider project “Getting out of the middle-income trap in Peru: new partnership for better policies.”Item Introduction à l'indice de l'autonomisation des femmes dans l'élevage WELI(2019-10) Galiè, Alessandra; Teufel, Nils; Korir, Luke; International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)Item Introduction to the women’s empowerment in livestock index WELI(2019-10) Galiè, Alessandra; Teufel, Nils; Korir, Luke; International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)
