dc.description.abstractThe Vital Events Council and a Civil Registration Management Board at the national level oversees the improvement and functioning of the Centre of Excellence for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system in Ethiopia. This policy brief traces the registration process starting with the lowest administrative unit or kebele. The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) is responsible for notifying the particular civil registration office of births and deaths, including cause of death information occurring in health facilities. CRVS systems are multi-sectoral, thus coordination among the major stakeholders is key to improvement.en
