African Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Youth are disproportionately affected by the issue of homelessness. Social housing policy is often inadequate to address the needs of homeless youth in general and homeless LGBTQ youth more specifically. This policy brief highlights concerns regarding housing markets, which are limited to the extent that profit motives constrain housing choices for the poorest and least economically resourced. It examines LGBTQ community-led practices of safe home provision. Decriminalisation of LGBTQ communities is a first step in addressing inequities.en
