The project aims to improve people's understanding of the links between environment and health, with a focus on diarrheal diseases and malnutrition. The Banda workshop engaged 39 key policy stakeholders and local council leaders in a discussion of pilot community-based health and gender sensitive interventions that could be initiated for reducing morbidity and mortality due to ill health with specific emphasis on diarrhea diseases and malnutrition. The Banda community settlement is characterized by poor drainage, poor sanitation, flooding in the rainy season, and consists of transient communities. Regular sensitization on health and nutrition practices is required.en
