Supplier consolidation and production agglomeration have increased the importance of certain suppliers and locations by concentrating physical assets and production facilities. The structure of the supply chains has become more complex, with more individual production nodes and distribution links involved across borders. Consequently, it has become more difficult for focal firms to identify the risks in the supply chain. This paper explores how global supply chains expand the risks of natural disasters and how natural disasters disrupt supply chain operations in the Asia-Pacific context. Policy options are proposed to enhance disaster resilience for business in the context of globalization.en
