dc.description.abstract | With wider diffusion and accessibility of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), there’s now an opportunity to democratize information and decision-making in the Philippines. However, most government websites are little more than static electronic bulletin boards with no mechanisms to allow for interaction or feedback. Government websites can be mandated to adopt interactive standards. Agencies specifically engaged in work on women’s empowerment and rights should be encouraged to adopt ICTs strategically, both as a means for consultation and for discussion. This policy brief is the outcome of collaboration under the Gender and Ctizenship in the Information Society (CITIGEN) Asia Research Programme. | en |
