This paper investigates South Africa’s institutional structure for governance of climate change and describes in detail the role of key institutional actors. The methodology used was a desktop literature review followed by interviews with institutional actors in South Africa in 2013-14. The paper identifies the main institutions responsible for climate change governance and maps relationships between the relevant institutions. The paper provides a basic foundation for future research for the South African part of the IDRC project.en
