The presentation outlines some initiatives in Ethiopia that address infant mortality and pro-poor programming such as the Health Extension Program (HEP); the Child Survival Strategy; the Ethiopia Hospital Reform Initiative, and others. Tables of results show that infant and maternal mortality rates have been substantially reduced (year 2000 to 2014). The presentation also details the roles of health workers and community leaders and their influence on the health of pregnant women.en
