The aim is a literature review of women’s health seeking behaviour in agro-ecological systems. Women’s lower status in society influences their health in many ways. In sub-Saharan Africa agriculture accounts for approximately 21 percent of the continent’s GDP, and women contribute 60-80 percent of the labor used to produce food. Zoonotic diseases within the region are particularly relevant in addressing women’s health from an ecosystems perspective. The health impact of the linkages between gender concerns and poverty are most clearly seen in terms of overwork, hazardous work, and poor nutrition.en
