Science and Public Policy is an interdisciplinary, international journal on how science, technology and innovation influence, and are influenced by, public policy; it is read in over 80 countries. This special issue discusses the relative effectiveness of different channels of interaction between public research organizations (PROs) and industry, in driving specific types of benefits for researchers and firms in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Mexico, from the perspective of both agents. The approach followed in this special issue prioritizes comparisons between countries in order to extract characteristics of the PRO–industry interactions.en
