dc.description.abstractCommunities affected by state-sponsored or non-state armed group violence are often the first to collect the names of those harmed, the details of the events, and an account of all that was lost. Community based groups often document abuses under conditions of extreme duress and threat, adopting methods to protect their members and survivors. Research identified formal as well as informal practices of documentation of human rights abuses outside the archive in the form of song, dance, art, occupation, and other performances. The report provides recommendations for transitional justice actors to support this critical work.en
