The article succinctly covers how chagas disease is transmitted, the physical effects over time, and how and why to prevent its spread. The parasite is called Trypanosoma cruzi, a protozoan contained in the “kissing bug’s” excrement. When a person is bit, the natural inclination is to scratch the bite, which ensures the protozoan gets into the bloodstream, causing Chagas disease. The inflammatory illness causes chronic disease over time leading to death.en
