The research surveys explored global impact of learning/volunteer abroad programs for Canadians and as well, for host communities. Global citizenship is most often understood in the context of what Canadians can learn about and do for other people in far off places rather than as an increased global understanding that comes from critical reflection and expressed in behavioural change. Understanding of ethical and moral implications of volunteer learning/practicums/internships needs to be developed. The report presents a synthesis of findings from survey data to give a broader overview of issues related to the short-term placement phenomenon.en
