dc.description.abstractLiterature reviews and field research studies implemented by IFPRI and other research teams who have examined the socio-economic issues and consequences related to and resulting from the adoption of Genetically Engineered (GE) crops have shown that these crops can have a positive but variable economic impact on smallholder farmers and other actors in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, there are significant gaps in knowledge as related to broader social concerns including gender and food security issues.
