In KyaungTaung village (Shan State, Myanmar) all households are engaged in agriculture. Water scarcity is a significant factor hampering the community to ensure their own food security and other aspects of their livelihoods. There is lack of access to public or private extension services, which has led to inappropriate cultivation practices (shifting cultivation/slash and burn). This report provides a background assessment of agricultural practices, food security, nutrition, livelihoods, gender dimensions, and climate change risks and impacts for this forested region. KyaungTaung land is classed as forest land and hence, none of the villagers have land tenure documents.en
