dc.description.abstractChilean law regulates food labeling and advertising aiming to help Chileans achieve a healthy lifestyle while decreasing obesity and obesity-associated non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The article provides a rationale for this kind of legislative action, and presents its structure and main mandates. Expert committees have reviewed the evidence for implementation of food labeling and advertisement aspects of the law for the Ministry of Health. The article concludes by examining the role of industry and lobbying efforts in delaying regulation.en
