dc.description.abstractThis article presents a case study of doing research evaluation differently, and what results can look like for research policymakers. It examines IDRC research that spans multiple disciplines of social and natural sciences across the globe. The evaluative framework used is “Research Quality Plus (RQ+)” which incorporates argumentation espoused in the Leiden Manifesto. The analysis suggests there is no clear trade-off between the rigor and utility of research, and as well, that research capacity-strengthening efforts are positively correlated with scientific merit.en
