This is a theoretical paper designed as an exploratory study. The unit of analysis is the purpose-driven company (PDC); the theoretical framework is the social entrepreneurship theory, focusing in hybrid organizations. The aim is to identify and define the main terms that are used to refer to PDC´s, to detect PDC typologies in the international and regional literature; to analyze these typologies‘ characteristics and to find common or unifying patterns; to explore the business structures underlying these typologies and then to identify related management challenges concerning each business structure.en
