While traditionally the public sector absorbed the bulk of new entrants, as the youth population continues to grow in Ethiopia the decline in public employment points to increasing reliance on private initiatives to create jobs. A recent study on Youth Self-Employment in Ethiopia identifies some of the key bottlenecks and opportunities for fostering sustainable youth livelihoods. The policy brief provides a review of survey results, including gender gaps, barriers to labour market entry, skills training and deficits, entrepreneurship, and new business creation schemes.en
