dc.description.abstractThe study shows the issue of sea-level rise is a low priority for local decision makers. Findings indicate that village leaders along the Zhejiang coast had little knowledge of global warming and sea-level rise. While some had a positive attitude towards adaptation to sea-level rise, most did not want to take any specific policy action. However, providing local decision makers with relevant information raises awareness of the need to act. The study recommends increased information provision, more direct financial and technical assistance from local and national governments, and improved leadership in environmental planning and risk reduction.en
