Meeting: 4th Global Forum on Urban Resilience & Adaptation, Bonn, Germany, 31 May – 2 June 2013en
The Rio de la Plata River basin is fifth largest in the world with climate-related hazards in the study area of intense local rainfall, and flooding of major tributary rivers. The paper suggests some entry points to support the work of four municipal governments (Carmelo and Juan Lacaze, Uruguay; Tigre and San Fernando, Argentina) and their at-risk communities, in drafting local climate change adaptation guidelines, towards their inclusion in local development plans. The project involves generating a local information base (hydro-meteorological, socio-institutional, economic, and urban) to better inform local decisions, and to discuss present disaster risk situations and future scenarios.en
