This study documents women’s aspirations about land in Kibaale district, Uganda. The purpose is not only to provide evidence but to build a platform for effective advocacy so that rural poor women can improve their access to and control over land, including through building linkages with the wider advocacy of the International Land Coalition (ILC). Having titled land emerges as a major aspiration, and something women act upon amidst much resistance. Poor institutional governance is a major impediment, exemplified by women’s low literacy levels, poor land administration, legal inconsistencies, corruption and ignorance of the law, unsanctioned marital unions and gender insensitivity of land administration institutions.en
