Research shows that when community health worker (CHW) programs are managed and supported adequately, they can reduce maternal and child mortality (MCH) when compared to facility-based services alone. The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has intensified the search for workable solutions to development challenges. This policy brief demonstrates how integrating gender equality into CHW programs facilitates CHW’s work and improves their economic empowerment, the effective implementation of community health programs and health outcomes of communities.en
