dc.description.abstract | The presentation provides six case studies where knowledge intermediaries intervened to promote and develop traditional practices in the informal sector. It illustrates challenges inherent to these attempts in bridging formal and informal sectors. It advocates for better understanding between groups: informal actors know better than formal actors about their needs and endowments; and their commitment is needed for technical success and socioeconomic sustainability of innovation processes. Alternately, because market transformation can threaten traditional knowledge conservation, the intermediary role may also consist in reversing market practices that undermine traditional knowledge processes, conservation, and effectiveness. | en |
