This one-page newsletter follows up the “Regional Workshop to validate the Situation Analysis of Knowledge Translation and Use of Research Results in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH),” held in Dakar (2016). The situation analysis highlighted the following: poor use of evidence while developing policies, plans, standards and protocols in the region; organizational and institutional environments need to be made conducive for support of use of evidence; various stakeholders’ capacities in evidence-use need to be strengthened. Against this background, the West African Health Organization (WAHO) is planning to establish a regional platform to strengthen individuals’ and institutions’ organizational capacities.en
