The report provides a tool for civil society and governments to assess progress of the implementation of the right to information in line with sustainable development goal (SDG) 16.10 and international legal standards in twenty-three African countries. It provides baseline information on the different aspects of the right to information, and establishes the status of public access to information in terms of three key variables: constitutional provisions for the right of access to information, the respect for international standards and agreements, and the implementation mechanisms. The relationship between access to information and other SDGs is also examined.en
