The presentation provides information on three study sites in Chimanimani district, Manicaland province (Eastern Zimbabwe) representing a gradient of agrarian settlement models before and after Zimbabwe’s national independence. It outlines livelihoods, forest resources, and economic and environmental dynamics in the region in relation to forest management and migration. Management of forest resources in Chimanimani resettlement areas can be enhanced through improved local institutions and improved local capacity for forest management.en
