dc.description.abstract“Lazy Gardens” is a land-use innovation by a group of Karen farmers in northern Thailand for cultivation of complex gardens of vegetables, trees and other crops without using expensive fossil‐fuel or chemical inputs. “The idea comes from our traditions. …Rain or shine we try to stay close to our own homes. Evening or at night – you want something to eat - you can go and get it.” The presentation shows features of the lazy garden techniques of complementary planting, which creates a complex horizontal and vertical structure. Using a modified innovation systems framework helped to inform problems in scaling-up of the innovation.en
