Abstract
This briefing note presents the results of a comparative analysis as input towards further deliberations of the working group of the Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) towards COP26 (Conference of the Parties 2026, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change). Outcomes and operational principles of the ARA for its governance structure were outlined, and a protocol developed to guide systematic analyses of existing partnerships and their governance structures. Based on the ARA’s theory of change and lessons learned from existing relevant partnerships, a governance system composed of multiple bodies with distributed responsibilities is suggested.
