Abstract
The project has increased the level of knowledge in farming communities regarding the rights of the farmers on local genetic resources and Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) issues. The baseline analysis showed there was almost no one in the communities who understand issues related to their rights on genetic resources. Major events and activities conducted for awareness raising are reviewed, such as creating a Community Biodiversity Register, establishing a Community Seed Bank, running Participatory Plant Breeding and Participatory Varietal Selection and Community Based Seed Production, management of a community based biodiversity management fund, and biodiversity conservation and development committees.
