Abstract
The presentation reviews a study which analyzes the barriers to adoption of bio-fertilizer by looking at three cases of bio-fertilizer innovation systems. It includes farmer perceptions around biofertilizer use, as well as institutional barriers. Initial adoption and diffusion strategies like demo farms are effective in disseminating information about innovative products. Mechanisms are needed that can facilitate transition to the use of environment friendly products through re-orientation and skills development.
