It is part of the Evaluation’s mandate “to provide independent, timely and actionable feedback to allow for the adaptive management of TTI, as well as providing rigorously documented and validated learning about the program.” At this halfway point, the Report primarily follows up on the Evaluation’s Phase Two baselines, established in 2016, which have been used as the basis for data collection here and against which further progress will be assessed up to 2019 in the Final Evaluation Report.Item Open Access CSEA annual report October 2016-September 2017(2017-09) Centre for the Study of the Economies of AfricaThe Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) annual report describes increased engagement of CSEA’s researchers in funded research projects in education, agricultural value-chain, infrastructure financing, and fiscal sustainability. These included characteristics of: diversity; strategic planning and intervention; impact; and cooperation mechanisms. This paper reports on activities developed in the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) module. Capacity building modules served to provide relevant literature, theoretical documents that explain the main contents with more detail, as well as useful tools to strengthen the organizations. A mentoring process was included along with the virtual training module.Item Open Access Las mujeres saben : social media campaign(Grupo Sofia, 2019-08) Grupo SofiaItem Open Access Desigualdad en la academia : mujeres en las ciencias sociales peruanas(Grupo Sofia, 2018-04) Alcázar, Lorena; Balarin, MaríaItem Open Access Final report : executive summary : external evaluation of the think tank initiative (TTI) phase two, 2014-2019(NIRAS, 2019-04-18) Christoplos, Ian; Pain, Adam; Kluyskens, Jups; Fruhling, PierreThe Think Tank Initiative (TTI) was a remarkably ambitious, large and long-term effort managed by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and funded by six donors, with the purpose of supporting selected think tanks. It ran over a period of ten years (2008-2019) and provided support for 43 think tanks in 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with a total budget of well over CAD 200 million. Total financial support to each grantee over the period varied from CAD 500,000 to almost CAD 2,500,000. The main part of the support provided consisted of core, non-earmarked funding. This modality was then combined with capacity development, monitoring and advisory support from TTI staff located in the different regions and from external experts, focusing on three broad areas: research methods and skills, policy engagement and communications and organizational effectiveness. This Executive Summary presents the overall findings, conclusions and recommendations from the external evaluation of Phase Two (2014-2019) of the Think Tank Initiative (TTI). Conclusions related to effectiveness, outcomes and impact are presented, as well as lessons to be learned from the TTI experience.Item Open Access Item Open Access TTI insights : supporting change through effective program officer accompaniment(2018-08) Hurst, AndrewTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Les perspectives de l'ITT : le bien-fondé du financement de base(2019-08) Hibler, Michelle; Taylor, Peter; Verma, SamarItem Open Access TTI insights : making the case for core funding(2019-08) Hibler, Michelle; Taylor, Peter; Verma, SamarTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Les perspectives de l'ITT : think tanks et égalité des sexes(2019-07) O'Neil, Mary; Sutton, Shannon; Bhatia-Panthaki, SeemaItem Open Access TTI insights : think tanks and gender equality(2019-07) O'Neil, Mary; Sutton, Shannon; Bhatia-Panthaki, SeemaTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Les perspectives de l’ITT : qualité de la recherche pour l’interaction avec la sphère des politiques(2019-07) O'Neil, Mary; Malich, Erika; Hurst, AndrewItem Open Access TTI insights : research quality for policy engagement(2019-07) O'Neil, Mary; Malich, Erika; Hurst, AndrewTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Les perspectives de l’ITT : positionner les think tanks pour qu’ils puissent influencer les débats politiques(2019-07) O'Neil, Mary; Hurst, Andrew; Sanogo, DiakaliaItem Open Access TTI insights : positioning think tanks for policy influence(2019-07) O’Neil, Mary; Sanogo, Diakalia; Hurst, AndrewTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Les perspectives de l’ITT : Leadership et gouvernance(2019-07) Hibler, Michelle; Verma, Samar; Lafrance, JulieItem Open Access TTI insights : leadership and governance(2019-07) Hibler, Michelle; Verma, Samar; Lafrance, JulieTTI Insights are a series of knowledge briefs that distill ten years of learning from the Think Tank Initiative to inform donors, researchers, and practitioners working to strengthen policy research.Item Open Access Analyse des modèles de financement des think tanks(2019-07) Hibler, Michelle; Okidi, John; Lafrance, Julie
