: une analyse d'incidence à partir des données d'enquête(Réseaux de PEP, 2005) Djindil Syntiche, Nakar; Ndang, Tabo Symphorien; Anatole, Toinar MogotaItem Academic versus vocational training : maximizing Tanzania's educational system(Dept. of Economics, University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, TZ, 2009) University of Dar es Salaam, Micro Level Perspectives of Growth (MLPG)This brief analyzes the rates of return in Tanzania for two main educational trajectories, academic and vocational, as a way of determining policy priorities for developing the education sector. Rounding out academic skills with vocational ones may promote longer participation in the academic path and increase returns for all parties, allowing for a strong foundation for entry into the workforce. Also, in Tanzania, firm size plays an important role. With the exception of university-level education, it was found that large firms increased returns for workers over small firms, and this is an important predictor for the rates of return for on-the-job training. Item Addressing discrimination and inequality among groups(IFPRI, Washington, DC, US, 2007) Stewart, FrancesItem AERC scoping exercise on China - Africa relations : the case of Angola(Centre for Chinese Studies, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, ZA, 2008) Corkin, LucyWhile extractive industries, diamonds and oil, account for 99 percent of Angolan exports and 57 percent of GDP, they employ only 1 percent of the workforce. Chinese investment in Angola is located in the telecommunications infrastructure and extractive industry sectors, particularly oil. Sociedade Nacional de Combustiveis de Angola (Sonangol) is the state-owned oil company, where signature bonuses have soared since Chinese investment (Sinopec). China’s growing demand for oil contributes to an increase in global oil prices, further benefiting Angolan terms of trade. This narrow concentration on oil has indirect competitive impact on Angola’s non-oil informal economy, on which the majority of Angolan people rely for survival.Item AERC scoping studies on China - Africa economic relations : the Gambia(University of the Gambia, Kanifing, GM, 2007) Sillah, Bukhari M.S.; Jammeh, Mohammed E.The report provides details of trade and diplomatic ties to China and Taiwan. Most manufactured goods of electrical and electronic goods in The Gambia come from China, while importation of crude and unfinished goods are driven by Chinese related companies that are operating in The Gambia. As at 2006, The Gambia receives no aid from Mainland China because there are currently no diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Gambia and Taiwan resumed diplomatic relations in July 1995, after a break of over 20 years. The Taiwanese International Cooperation for Development Fund (ICDF) cooperates with the country to establish e-government programs.Item Agenda de desenvolvimento e economia verde(Red Latinoamericana de Política Comercial (LATN), Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), Buenos Aires, AR, 2011) CINDESItem Agricultural and rural development for reducing poverty and hunger in Asia : in pursuit of inclusive and sustainable growth(IFPRI, Washington, DC, US, 2007)Item Agricultural growth and poverty reduction : a scoping study(IDRC, Ottawa, ON, CA, 2006) IDRC; Wiggins, SteveThis report, intended to inform the planning of an IDRC programme on globalisation, growth and poverty, sets out a research agenda on agricultural growth and poverty reduction, and outlines the methods and means by which that agenda could be studied. Drawing on a detailed analysis of the environment and factors that influence agricultural development, the report has three sections: setting out the issues considered important to thinking about agricultural growth and poverty reduction; choosing an agenda in the light of what others are doing, the scope for policy leverage, and how it might apply in different contexts; and outlining the methods and means that might be used to implement the research programme. In particular it suggests a focus on rural labour markets ! with linked consideration of migration and the rural non-farm economy that so closely influence the labour markets as well as agricultural input supply, produce marketing and farmer organization in an attempt to understand the institutional changes which might limit market failures.Item Aligning innovation for dynamic capabilities and sustainable growth in South African manufacturing(TIPS, Johannesburg, ZA, 2000) Wood, EricThe paper argues that manufacturing companies competing successfully in international markets hold promise for employment growth for many in the South African labour force, especially those without tertiary education. Using Ziton manufacturing as a case study to demonstrate a pattern of innovation management in successful companies abroad, the paper reviews some key features of management in innovation in the South African environment. Policy recommendations are featured in the last section.Item Alliance building for a culture of compliance : countering weaknesses in competition law enforcement(New York University School of Law, 2011) Fox, EleanorThis presentation for the International Competition Network (ICN) examines issues in competition law; its effectiveness in terms of court decision-making; flaws in statutory law; and alliances with agencies (universities, development funds, sister authorities, NGOs, other capacity builders) where conflicts of interest may exist. It looks at common flaws that impair competition law effectiveness and what weaknesses are attributable to design, procedure and/or process. Item Analyse des déterminants de la pauvreté monétaire des femmes chefs de ménage au Bénin(Réseaux de PEP, 2005) Attanasso, Marie-OdileItem Analysis of ex-ante poverty impact assessment practices of macroeconomic policies in Nepal(IPRAD, Maitighar, NP, 2006) Institute for Policy Research and Development; Raj Khanal, Dilli; Raj Kanel, Nav; Kumar Sharma, RamItem Analysis of multidimensional poverty : theory and case studies(IDRC, Ottawa, ON, CA, 2009) Asselin, Louis-MarieThis book proposes an operational methodology for measuring multidimensional poverty. The core of this approach rests on identification of poverty types and on the construction of a Composite Indicator of Poverty, which objectively weights multiple categories of poverty. Built as a two-step approach, Multiple Correspondence Analysis allows for the integration of unidimensional money-metric techniques. The book presents two case studies: one from Vietnam and the other from Senegal. Poverty remains a challenge to model formalization, and to measurement that is consistent with such formalization.Item Analysis of the SME researchers workshop participants survey : prepared for the April 12, 2007 SME Researchers Workshop(IDRC, Ottawa, ON, CA, 2007) Stevenson, LoisOverall, survey respondents indicated that the major barriers to small and medium/micro enterprise (SME) research in Egypt were availability of data/sources, and lack of ability of research to influence policy. However, apart from agreement on the top ranked barrier, researchers and government/ donors differed in their views about the level of significance of the remaining barriers.
