Focusing on women participants’ involvement in community work and local social networks, it demonstrates their contribution to building social cohesion and driving crime and violence prevention activities through the CWP. The contribution of women, especially older women, to innovation and effectiveness within the CWP needs to be fostered. The brief concludes with recommendations for supporting women’s contributions to the CWP. In 2015 there were 202,599 participants at 186 CWP sites across South Africa: 75% were women; 42% above 35 years of age.Text1 digital file (12 p. : ill.)application/pdfenCOMMUNITY PARTICIPATIONUNEMPLOYMENTWOMEN'S PARTICIPATIONSOUTH AFRICASOUTH OF SAHARAVULNERABLE GROUPSGANGSURBAN VIOLENCECOMMUNITY WORK PROGRAMMEVIOLENCE PREVENTIONSOCIAL SAFETY NETSWomen’s contribution to social cohesion and violence prevention through the Community Work ProgrammeCSVR project on the Community Work Programme and violence preventionPolicy Brief
