Innovation systems analysis should be brought down from the national and sectoral levels to the city level. The paper argues that innovation operates via interactions among actors and activities within three spatial dimensions: information space, physical space and cognitive spaces; cities provide an ideal environment, offering proximity, density and variety in three spaces. The conceptual framework also includes not-for-profit innovations that aim to solve urban problems for improved quality of life.Text1 digital file (21 p.)Application/pdfenSOUTHEAST ASIACITIESCITY INNOVATION SYSTEMSURBAN ENVIRONMENTSOCIAL PROBLEMSURBAN DEVELOPMENTMaking innovation work for society : linking, leveraging and learningCity innovation systems : the next horizon in innovation studies for Southeast AsiaConference Paper
