The livelihood of people of the Rasa Watershed is highly dependent on rain fed agriculture with limited availability of land. This detailed paper analyzes soil samples from the area to determine which crops may be beneficial to the local cultivation practices. Observed values of soil pH indicate the soils in the Watershed are acidic and classified as moderately suitable for the cultivation of faba bean, marginally suitable for chickpea – due to major limiting factors of nutrient availability, topography, temperature regime, moisture availability and frost hazard.Text1 digital file (230 p. : ill.)application/pdfenCHICKPEASFABA BEANPEDOLOGYSOIL ANALYSISWATERSHEDETHIOPIARAIN FED FARMINGVERTISOLSCATCHMENT HYDROLOGYBIOMASSLEGUMESCROP YIELDHUMAN NUTRITIONSOIL TYPESSOUTH OF SAHARALAND USEAGROECOLOGYClassification of soils and land evaluation for faba bean (Vicia faba L.) and chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) production in Rasa Watershed, Southern EthiopiaBook
