The papers focus on: Lake Chad, a transboundary water resource; the Cameroon coastline and socio-economic impacts of sea level rise; the Kenya coastline and mangrove ecosystems; Senegal experiments in soil fertility; Togo energy sector and forest resources and; Zimbabwe land use change and environmental degradation. A major challenge for Africa is lack of continuous, systemic data on ecosystems. The few vulnerability assessments point to the need for ecosystems protection, reforestation with “climate-smart adaptations,” integrated land-use and development planning, as well as activities to improve resource use technology.application/pdfenCLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATIONCLIMATE CHANGE VULNERABILITYDEFORESTATIONMANGROVESSEA LEVEL RISECOASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENTCAMEROONKENYASENEGALTOGOZIMBABWESOUTH OF SAHARAClimate change impacts for ecosystems management in AfricaSynthesis Report
