It develops a conservation policy, and measures the trade-off between soil conservation and household income if the policy is implemented. A land tax could be used to reduce environmental problems such as soil loss. However, this kind of tax will have a negative impact on farmers’ livelihoods. The study therefore recommends that farmers should be helped to implement innovations in animal husbandry so that their standard of living is not unduly affected.Text1 digital file (58 p. : ill.)enAGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONSSOIL EROSIONWATER POLLUTIONLAND POLICYVIET NAMSOIL CONSERVATIONANIMAL HUSBANDRYLAND USEMATHEMATICAL MODELSTAXATIONFAR EAST ASIAInnovations and sustainability strategies in the upland agriculture of Northern Vietnam : an agent-based modeling approachIDRC Final Report
