The 1999 flood created three new openings into the lagoon ecosystem: Con Dau (Hai Duong); Hoa Duan (Thuan an) and the connecting opening at Vinh Hai (Thua Thien Hue gauging-station). The Hoa Duan opening had a positive impact on aquaculture due to the fact that the environment was airy, the water exchange with the sea was better, the salinity appeared sooner so the culture season was longer; the shrimp grew rapidly with less disease; and the economic efficiency was high.1 digital fileapplication/pdfenAQUACULTUREFLOODSFISHERMENPARTICIPATORY RESEARCHFLOODINGENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENTENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENTWATERWAYSSHRIMPSVIET NAMFAR EAST ASIAChanges in net enclosure aquaculture in Phu tan after the century flood in 1999RPE CBNRMWorking Paper
