Five countries are the focus: Malaysia, Vietnam, Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya. Working from a sectoral innovation systems approach as it applies to late development, detailed background reports on the state of innovation in all five countries were assembled. Over six hundred questionnaires were administered in the five countries to firms, universities, public research institutes, governmental agencies and biotechnology service providers such as hospitals. The report details findings, outcomes and outputs of the project. The role of policy in sectoral performance is also examined.Text1 digital file (231 p. : ill.)enINNOVATION SYSTEMSBIOPHARMACEUTICALFAR EAST ASIABIOTECHNOLOGYCAPACITY BUILDINGPOLICY MAKINGRESEARCH NETWORKSSOCIO-ECONOMIC INDICATORSORGANIZATION OF RESEARCHRESEARCH CAPACITYPUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPSINFRASTRUCTUREGHANAMALAYSIAKENYANIGERIATANZANIAVIET NAMSCIENTIFIC CULTURESCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICYSOUTH OF SAHARAComparative biotechnology study in Asia and AfricaIDRC Final Report
