The analysis provides details of the catchment area in terms of population, geography, water supply, demand, and allocation, along with the institutional context of water management. Each issue is summarized outlining the magnitude and distribution of the problem, along with discussion of some of the biophysical and socio-institutional determinants. The water management ‘problem’ is defined using a four-dimensional framework of water scarcity, fairness, sustainability and water quality. Key knowledge gaps are highlighted.application/pdfenRIVER BASINSWATER MANAGEMENTINDIAURBAN WATER AND SANITATIONWASTEWATERWATER RIGHTSWATER EQUITYNATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENTURBANIZATIONWATER REQUIREMENTSHYDROLOGYSOUTH ASIABANGALOREWater management in the Arkavathy basin : a situational analysisWorking Paper
