Non-cigarette use is high in certain demographic groups but needs more attention as the tobacco industry finds ways to undermine legislation. Second-hand tobacco smoke is of particular concern in homes. There are bans on smoking in most public places. Research has played an essential role in supporting both policy development and advocacy efforts.
