Waema, Timothy M.Okinda, Obadia2012-02-242012-02-242011http://hdl.handle.net/10625/48352The objective of the study was to facilitate future policy decisions concerning the allocation and targeting of resources for poverty reduction in Kenya by providing an analysis of the ICT/poverty nexus. The key component of a pro-poor national ICT policy is universal access. Based on the research findings, mobile phones and radio have the most potential for poverty reduction due to high levels of access and usage. Internet penetration remains low especially in rural areas due to lack of appropriate infrastructure and requisite knowledge among the people, although this is rapidly changing with increased use of mobile Internet services.Text1 digital file (13 p. : ill.)enPOVERTY MITIGATIONEAST AFRICAICTICT ACCESS AND USAGERURAL URBAN DIFFERENTIALSLIVELIHOOD SECURITYKENYAMOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICESDIGITAL DIVIDECOMPUTER LITERACYICT access and usage and household social and economic livelihood : policy briefPolicy Brief
