Its operation is overseen by the President of the Republic through the Ministry of Justice. The agency is responsible for issuing identification credentials and registering the vital events of everyone living in Chile. Vital statistics are generated from the vital events registration records in the Civil Registration and Identification Service’s CRVS system. The Service has achieved full data interoperability within its own databases, as well as interoperability with other government and private entities.
