Urban agriculture is neither a short-lived remnant of rural culture nor a nasty symptom of arrested urban development. On the political agenda, urban agriculture is far more advanced in northern countries than it is in the south. The article reviews the IDRC participation at the World Urban Forum (WUF3) and its contribution to research in urban agriculture. IDRC’s extensive survey in sub-Saharan Africa became the basis for the seminal book, Urban Agriculture: Food, Jobs, and Sustainable Cities (1996).Text1 digital file (4 p.)enURBAN AGRICULTUREFOOD SECURITYWASTE RECYCLINGINCOME GENERATIONENVIRONMENTAL HEALTHVANCOUVERCANADAGLOBALGrowing business of growing in the city : IDRC supports urban agricultureMedia Article
