The inception workshop report covers activities and presentations made by participants; the rationale behind the Advancing Capacity to Support Climate Change Adaptation (ACCCA) project; its mission; and its objectives. It was noted that science has not been successful in offering sustainable solutions to the climate change challenge; the science hasn't been able to translate knowledge and know-how into local language. The GIS-based, spatial information tool (AWhere) was presented so teams might better identify climate risk hot spots, map areas of vulnerability, and identify potential adaptation options. Gendered dimensions of climate change, and outcome mapping topics were also included.en
