The linkages between research and policy in the Caribbean are often weak in natural resource management and governance. More specifically to this policy brief: while some powerful individual fisherfolk and a few small fisherfolk organizations (FFOs) may be able to influence national level policy, a wider fisherfolk network may be needed to influence regional policy and to play a meaningful role in governance at the regional level. This brief encourages fisherfolk groups to join in collaboration and wider networking. The Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES) applied research projects emphasize learning-by-doing through the collaboration of researchers, beneficiaries and other parties.en
