Sino-African trade reached 40 billion dollars in 2005, to reach 100 billion dollars in 2010. This study measures China’s support to Côte d’Ivoire (aid, donations, grants, loans) and the impact of this aid on the economy. China has become the principal partner of several African countries: it provides them with cheap manufactured goods and reduces their dependence on traditional trade partners. One recommendation in relation to the conditions of investment and completion of the large works executed by China should be in terms of employment of local labour and introduction of minimal traceability standards.en
